WELCOME TO SERGIEV POSAD

    By the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries wooden ware was being made in monasteries, especially in Sergiev Posad near Moscow. Sergiev Posad belonged to the lands of the Trinity - St. Sergius Monastery. The peasants from neighbouring villages volunteered to help in the monastery workshop where they could familiarize themselves with the production of the turned toys.
